The equipment is suitable for pressurizing the car and measure the air leakage
quantitatively. The leakage rate can be checked for various cabin pressures in the range of 0 to 500 Pa.
The Air Leakage Tester works on the principle of Air Flow Measurement by
Differential Pressure Method with a nozzle inserted in the air flow duct for creating the pressure differential. This differential pressure is measured with a precision differential pressure sensor from which the air flow is to be calculated.
The nozzles are made of Aluminium and are as per AMCA standard and are
described as the Long Radius Nozzles with Beta ratio of 0.5.
The calculations for the air flow corrected to the standard atmosphere conditions
are slightly involved. A notebook computer is provided for the purpose of collecting the data from the instruments and calculating the corrected air flow. |
